It feels like every single casting decision WB has made for Batman v Superman has been met with criticisms and complaints, all except one, Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Everyone was on board with this casting decision, including myself, and for the first time Jeremy Irons has offered up some details regarding his take on Batman's forever loyal butler. "He is quite a different Alfred than we have seen so far. Zack Snyder had very clear views about what he wanted. I would just say he's more hands-on perhaps than just a butler." Jeremy Irons
Every version of Alfred in the movies so far have all been seen as being an old doting fuddy duddy to Bruce Wayne, no offense to the previous actors intended, but they weren't exactly given a whole lot to do in the action department. I dare say that Jeremy Irons will be more akin to the Alfred seen in Batman: Earth One, a thorough badass. I've been wanting to see a more action competent Alfred for a long time now, so this bodes well for me. Jeremy Irons also described his part in Batman v Superman as "not a large role", not that that's terribly surprising, but it does seem to indicate that BvS will not as Bat heavy as many have suspected it will be.
