Sylvester Stallone stars as... well, who are we kidding, Sylvester Stallone—a hitman whose partner is killed in a double-cross that leads him to team up with a detective (Sung Kang) to stop a sinister villain from building condos by buying up and tearing down houses in the projects (truly the evil masterplan to end all evil masterplans!).
Sly is, well, Sly. He’s well suited to these types of roles and he manages to be mildly fun to watch, despite the cheesiness of the material. Sadly, one can’t say the same about the rest of the cast who can’t bring any life to the limp writing.
About the only thing of quality here is the sleazy, booze-soaked, barroom blues-rock of the soundtrack, which is far more effective at setting the tone and mood than anything in the visuals or narrative.
